He is also one of the Network\u2019s nine founding members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> \u201cThis visit coincides with a time when Sagrado is establishing a new academic project that seeks to empower students who dream of causing change in a world full of new challenges, both local and international.\u201d <\/p><cite>Javier de Jes\u00fas Mart\u00ednez, director of Neeuko <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Georgina O&#8217;Farrill, project leader of the Ecosystems and Green Growth Units, the Network \u201cwas created by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cec.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Commission for Environmental Cooperation (opens in a new tab)\">Commission for Environmental Cooperation<\/a> to promote youth and community leadership in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship in favor of environmental protection and sustainable development in North America (Canada, Mexico and the United States)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, O&#8217;Farrill introduced the topic\nof the 2020 Youth Innovation Challenge, through which they encourage young\npeople between the ages of 18 and 30 who reside in Canada, the United States\n(including Puerto Rico), and Mexico to propose innovative solutions that\ncontribute to the way we face environmental challenges and constitute an\nopportunity for communities in the region\u2019s three countries. She also explained\nthat the Network serves as a facilitator for these initiatives to receive\ngovernment support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the dialogue table, Sagrado\u2019s\nrepresentation was led by its president, Gilberto Marxuach, Esq., who offered\nvisitors a historical account of Sagrado\u2019s founding, placed the Puerto Rico\u2019s\nhigher education system in its historical framework, and outlined the socio-economic\nsituation of the Island in recent years, which motivates us to face the new\nchallenges and discover new models in the field of education that adjust to\ndynamic and changing realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe have a wealth of talent, excellent creative minds, but we need guidance to know how you have transferred that to different educational fields and what your experiences have been; to know how you transfer technological knowledge to industrial production, to the field of science, in short, to all educational areas.\u201d<\/p><cite>Gilberto Marxuach, Esq., President of Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n University <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/red2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21058\" srcset=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/red2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/red2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/red2-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As for Dr. Javier Hern\u00e1ndez Acosta,\ndirector of Sagrado\u2019s Department of Business Administration and author of <em>Creative Entrepreneurship<\/em>, he described his\ndepartment\u2019s academic offer and the plans for developing studies in social\ninnovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the Executive Vice President for\nAcademic Affairs, Dr. Mar\u00eda Teresa Mart\u00ednez, further explained Sagrado\u2019s\nacademic offer and programs, as well as the efforts to implement changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laurie Mel\u00edn, from the Internationalization and Interuniversity Relations Office, and Marlyn Mart\u00ednez, project manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuestrobarrio.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Nuestro Barrio: Santurce Cultural District (opens in a new tab)\"><em>Nuestro Barrio<\/em>: Santurce Cultural District<\/a>, were also in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Canada\u2019s representatives explained how they have looked for solutions in their centers to problems such as waste management. Later, Klaudia S\u00e1nchez, academic coordinator of the Social and Sustainability Program of Anahuac University in Mexico, together with two network ambassador students, Paola Orozco and Brenda Morales, presented the diversity of the academic offer of said program, which is a benchmark at the global level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe creatively combine environmental, social, and economic matters.
