{"id":24567,"date":"2020-08-27T11:09:56","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T15:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/?p=24567"},"modified":"2020-08-27T11:24:46","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T15:24:46","slug":"covid-19-photos-inventiveness-and-will-power-in-front-of-the-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/en\/covid-19-photos-inventiveness-and-will-power-in-front-of-the-lens\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;COVID-19 Photos&#8221;: Inventiveness and Will Power in front of the Lens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Check out any the best images taken by our Photography students during the pandemic.<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"682\" height=\"384\" src=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/fc.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/fc.png 682w, https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/fc-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\" \/><figcaption><em>Photo made by student Yelixa Pag\u00e1n Vega. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By Liz Yanira Del Valle<br>Collaborator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo turn the ordinary into the extraordinary; to awaken creativity in your own environment.\u201d That was the wise and poetic invitation that Sagrado professor <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/nitza-luna-m-f-a\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nitza Luna<\/a> made to her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/fotografia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">P<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/fotografia\/\" target=\"_blank\">hotography<\/a> students to encourage them to participate in a contest, <strong>which would have as a final result a sample of their productions developed during the challenging period of confinement caused by the pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/sagradoedu\/albums\/72157715485030828\" title=\"Muestra: \u201cFotos COVID-19\u201d\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50225557811_5af2bb93c7.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Muestra: \u201cFotos COVID-19\u201d\"><\/a><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>The original idea for the contest came from a suggestion by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/dra-maria-teresa-martinez-diez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prof. Mar\u00eda Teresa Mart\u00ednez Diez<\/a> and the director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/comunicacion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ferr\u00e9 Rangel School of Communication<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sagrado.edu\/paizy-damiani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gabriel Paizy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Professor Luna, <strong>this initiative tried to make up for the fact that the 12th PhotoFinish collective exhibit could not be held this year due to COVID-19.<\/strong> Traditionally, the exhibit includes the best images taken by our Photography students and is usually held at the Old Arsenal of the Spanish Navy, in Old San Juan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cStudents were presented with this option by convocation right in the middle of lockdown, at a time of complete uncertainty and great challenges both for the entirety of our Photography students and for us, their professors. Remember that the students were not allowed to leave their homes to take photographs. Faced with adversity, they accepted the challenge and succeeded,\u201d the professor, who is also a professional photographer, noted with satisfaction.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Luna was part of the jury that selected the photographic sample for \u201cCOVID-19 Photos,\u201d together with her Sagrado colleagues, Professors Edwin Cordero, Ana Mart\u00ednez, and Marisel Surillo. Additionally, photographer and professional medical doctor, Alberto Rodr\u00edguez Robles, served as special guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants included students from the Black and White Photography I, Black and White Photography II, Digital Photography, and Portrait courses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Check out any the best images taken by our Photography students during the pandemic.
