A total of 109 Nursing students celebrated their traditional capping ceremony at Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n’s Main Chapel, marking the beginning of a new phase in their professional lives as agents of change in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the celebratory mass, Father Yamil Samalot Rivera, OP, Ph.D., reflected on the importance of cultivating humility while practicing this profession, particularly in recognizing the need to seek help to achieve the best outcomes for patients. \u201cWe know they will leave Sagrado with excellent academic preparation, but if they also leave with a compassionate and merciful heart, we will know we have achieved our goal,\u201d the priest stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside Mar\u00eda Judith Col\u00f3n, director of the Nursing program at the School of Health and Sciences<\/a>, students also reflected on nursing as a transformative vocation. \u201cNursing means taking on the responsibility of caring for life ethically and with commitment,\u201d said Alondra Quiles Santos, a bachelor\u2019s degree student in Nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dedicating time to reflect on the traditional symbols of the cap, the caduceus, and the lamps, the students took their oath based on the values of empathy, justice, compassion, and the constant pursuit of excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time in the history of capping ceremonies at Sagrado, the Florence Nightingale Medals<\/strong> were presented, named in honor of the founder of modern nursing. In recognition of their academic excellence, commitment, leadership, and vocation for service, the medals were awarded to Elisandro De La Cruz and Ignacio Gotelli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
