Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n welcomed a visit from Dr. Heather E. Barry, chair of the Evaluation Committee of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at St. Joseph’s University, as part of its ongoing efforts toward reaffirmation of institutional accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, meetings were held with the Steering Committee, Working Committees, President Gilberto J. Marxuach Torr\u00f3s, and the Board of Trustees. Dr. Barry also conducted two open dialogue sessions\u2014one with students and another with administrative staff and faculty\u2014to explain the different phases of the accreditation process and address questions from the university community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her feedback on the draft self-study, her exchanges with the community, and her campus tour were highly encouraging and suggest that the university\u2019s accreditation efforts are well on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the visit, Dr. Barry observed firsthand the commitment of the Sagrado community to its mission and to the essence of an educational project that has served thousands of students and Puerto Rico with excellence and purpose for 146 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of this visit reflects the hard work of the working committees, as well as the many collaborators and participants who have dedicated their time and effort to demonstrate the excellence of Sagrado\u2019s educational project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university has been accredited by MSCHE since 1950, a process that is reviewed every eight years. As part of this cycle, the institution conducted a self-study through which it analyzes its level of compliance with accreditation standards, identifies opportunities for improvement, and establishes an action plan to guide its institutional goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it moves toward reaffirmation of accreditation, Sagrado is preparing for the next visit from the full evaluation team, scheduled for November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSCHE has been recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Secretary of Education since 1952. Through its accreditation process, its role is to ensure accountability, self-assessment, innovation, and continuous improvement in alignment with institutionally driven standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
