The Language Center held its 4th Literary Contest as part of the celebration of Language Week at the Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n. The contest, which also coincided with World Book Day, introduced a new category, \u201cMicrofiction in a Foreign Language,\u201d during this year\u2019s awards ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The addition of this category expands participation to include submissions in French and Portuguese, joining the existing categories of Essay, Microfiction, and Poetry\u2014the latter being the category with the highest number of entries this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Richard Rivera Cardona, language specialist at the Language Center, along with Academic Leader of Languages Karla Ayala Lebr\u00f3n and Language Center Manager Axell Kopka Pibernus, emphasized the initiative\u2019s goal of strengthening the practice of writing through this platform. This objective reflects the Language Center’s role as a key space which all students come in contact with when taking courses in the communication component. In addition, the center offers guidance in writing and editing assignments and projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kopka Pibernus, for his part, underscored the importance of this literary exchange space, noting that \u201clanguages are lived and transformed through expression,\u201d adding that they open possibilities to connect with other cultural realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Essay, Microfiction, and Poetry categories, the judging panel included Dr. Ana-Loreanne Col\u00f3n, Dr. Naida Garc\u00eda Crespo, Prof. Yasmarie Hern\u00e1ndez Gonz\u00e1lez, and Prof. Emanuelle Soto R\u00edos. Meanwhile, the panel for the Microfiction in a Foreign Language category was composed of Prof. Jos\u00e9 Rivera Gonz\u00e1lez and Prof. Bernice Rivera Berrocal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
