This week, eight students from the Business School<\/a> at Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n were inducted into Sigma Beta Delta<\/a>, an honor society that recognizes students in management, business, and business administration at institutions accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group, composed of undergraduate and graduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, joins more than 100,000 members worldwide who represent excellence in business disciplines. The ceremony included the participation of faculty members, family, as well as the presence of Gilberto J. Marxuach Torr\u00f3s, president of the Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n, and Dr. Dennis Rom\u00e1n Roa, dean of the Business School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, President Marxuach Torr\u00f3s highlighted the historical evolution of what is now known as the School of Business, formerly known as the Department of Business Administration<\/a>, within the context of Sagrado’s educational mission. \u201cThe mission of our university is to educate individuals in intellectual freedom and moral awareness who will participate in building a just and supportive community. It is impossible to imagine such a society without companies and businesses that contribute to the common good. In that sense, not having a Business School meant having an incomplete university,\u201d the president stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Dr. Rom\u00e1n Roa encouraged the new members to embrace their distinction as an ongoing commitment to excellence and service. \u201cThis society represents the best of business. It is an invitation to continue growing and contributing to the business world in an ethical and innovative way to make a positive difference. To those already in the workforce, I urge you to share your knowledge with those who follow, and to all, to continue teaching and learning with the same passion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also included the induction of faculty members who have closely collaborated with the Business School, including Eng. Sandra Pedraza Torres, dean of the School of General Education, and Pauline Olmedo, academic leader of Entrepreneurship in the School of General Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sagrado chapter of Sigma Beta Delta was established in 2023 after the Business School identified an opportunity to create an organization that recognizes the achievements of its students. The current leadership is composed of Heriberto Mart\u00ednez, president, and Deriel Mart\u00ednez, vice president, who will assume the presidency next semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sigma Beta Delta has more than 475 chapters within and outside the United States. Founded in 1994, its mission is to recognize and encourage academic excellence among business students, while promoting the values represented by its Greek initials: wisdom, honor, and purpose. In addition, the organization offers professional development opportunities through scholarships and both local and international conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a new generation of inductees, the Business School reaffirms its commitment to cultivating business leaders who stand out not only for their academic performance, but also for their integrity and commitment to the community. Sagrado celebrates the collective impact these future professionals will have in building well-being, wealth, and prosperity in society, in line with its institutional mission, as expressed by the president.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
