As part of the completion of their undergraduate studies, three students from Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n<\/a> (Sagrado) successfully completed the Peace Corps Prep program, which seeks to strengthen students\u2019 leadership, intercultural communication, and community service competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2025\u20132026 academic year, students Nicole Badillo V\u00e9lez, Tanairy Soto Rodr\u00edguez, and Ethan Fuster Hurst received their certifications after fulfilling the requirements of the preparatory program for undergraduate students. Two additional students are expected to complete the program requirements and earn their certification in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complete the program, students must perform at least 50 hours of volunteer service in one of the six Peace Corps work sectors: agriculture, community economic development, education, environment, health, or youth in development. In addition, they must complete three courses aligned with sector-specific and global competencies, strengthen their intercultural skills through academic and professional development experiences, and develop professional skills through workshops and advising that prepare them to exercise effective leadership in their communities and future workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the program was launched at Sagrado during the 2020\u20132021 academic year, 21 students have completed the program, joining a network of graduates committed to service and intercultural awareness. To date, Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n remains the only higher education institution in Puerto Rico<\/a> selected by the organization to offer the program in the archipelago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
