Through this immersive program, participants explored every stage of the entrepreneurial journey, from generating an initial idea to developing and presenting a business proposal with growth potential.

Entrepreneurial Mindset and Idea Development

The program began with an introduction to the principles of leadership and the entrepreneurial mindset. From day one, students were challenged to view their surroundings through a strategic lens by identifying opportunities, understanding needs, and developing solutions with meaningful impact. In doing so, they discovered that successful business ideas are driven not only by creativity but also by the ability to analyze, listen, collaborate, and make informed decisions.

Using widely recognized business methodologies and tools—including Design Thinking, the Business Model Canvas, business plan development, and pitch preparation—participants transformed their initial concepts into increasingly refined and well-structured business proposals.

Understanding How Businesses Operate

Throughout the program, students developed a comprehensive understanding of how businesses function by exploring fundamental concepts such as business models, organizational structure, sustainability, costs, revenue, pricing strategies, profitability, management, marketing, operations, distribution, and customer experience.

As part of their learning experience, they also examined the internal and external factors that influence business performance, the importance of sound financial management, and the potential of artificial intelligence as a tool for entrepreneurship and innovation. In addition, they reflected on sustainability from environmental, economic, and personal perspectives, recognizing its essential role in building responsible and resilient organizations.

Connecting Learning to Real-World Business

As part of the program, students participated in the Business Field Experience, a signature initiative of the School of Business that provides firsthand exposure to how organizations operate in real-world settings. This year, participants visited Caribbean Cinemas at Plaza Las Américas, where they explored key aspects of business operations, including operations management, customer service, logistics, professional presentation, technology, revenue generation strategies, advertising, inclusion, and talent management.

The experience enabled students to apply the concepts discussed throughout the program while gaining a deeper understanding that successful businesses are built on strategic planning, efficient processes, teamwork, and effective leadership.

Final Project Presentation

To conclude the program, participants completed a capstone project that allowed them to apply the knowledge and skills they had developed throughout the experience. The team presented Vestry, a virtual closet application designed to help users organize their wardrobes, create outfits, plan travel packing, and receive personalized recommendations powered by artificial intelligence.

The project incorporated the core components of a business model, including problem identification, the proposed solution, target market, revenue model, go-to-market strategy, and long-term growth vision.

Beyond the final presentation, the project reflected the students’ growth throughout the program. From their first questions and initial ideas to the development of well-supported business proposals, participants demonstrated significant progress in their analytical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. Most importantly, they came to understand that entrepreneurship requires the integration of strategic thinking, innovation, responsibility, technology, and social awareness to create solutions with purpose.

By Melmarie Candelario SantiagoProfessor, School of Business With the goal of introducing high school students to the business ecosystem and the college experience, the School of Business at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón hosted a […]

[5546,5289

post-47708","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pre-college","category-school-of-business
["GET
