By Institutional Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universidad del Sagrado Coraz\u00f3n<\/a> (Sagrado) was recognized during the eighth edition of Boricua Emprende Fest (BE Fest), held September 4 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, for the excellence of its academic entrepreneurship component. In addition, student Elizabeth Toro Torres reached the Enactus Puerto Rico national finals and earned second place in the Early Stage Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sagrado\u2019s School of Business<\/a> entrepreneurship faculty received a special recognition from Enactus Puerto Rico, highlighting their outstanding commitment to student development and their valuable contribution to strengthening entrepreneurship and social innovation in Puerto Rico. The recognition is particularly significant given that, this year, the collaboration between Enactus Puerto Rico and Sagrado has reached more than 175 students and incorporated four projects into entrepreneurship activities and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to these achievements was the recognition presented to Professor Ricardo Acevedo Aponte for his transformative mentorship. He also received a scholarship to become certified as a coach. Acevedo leads HUBS de Emprendimiento (“Entrepreneurship HUBS”), a program that supports students in the development, validation, and implementation of their projects through mentorship, workshops, business training, and connections with Puerto Rico\u2019s entrepreneurial ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sagrado Student Reaches Enactus National Finals<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The results of this educational model were also evident in student performance during the event. Elizabeth Toro Torres, a student in the International Studies and Global Communication program with a minor in Creative Writing, reached the Enactus Puerto Rico national finals in the Early Stage Competition, where she earned second place with her project, \u201cLlorens: Voces y Muros del Barrio.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth had the opportunity to develop her project through Sagrado\u2019s HUBS de Emprendimiento program in the social entrepreneurship category. Toro\u2019s project seeks to transform the social and physical environment of the Luis Llor\u00e9ns Torres Residential Complex through urban art and the creative industries. The proposal includes rehabilitating unused spaces and creating murals that tell the stories of the community, with the goal of strengthening a sense of belonging and generating new opportunities for sustainable socioeconomic development for local youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entrepreneurship as a Cross-Cutting Competency<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This recognition reflects an educational vision that Sagrado has strengthened since 2020: the belief that the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship should not depend on a person\u2019s field of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnder this curricular model, entrepreneurship is conceived as a cross-cutting experience accessible to all students. Regardless of their academic discipline, our students can develop projects in creative, cultural, social, scientific, technological, or business fields that generate value for their communities,\u201d said Dr. Anuchka Ramos Ruiz, provost and vice president for Academic and Student Affairs at Sagrado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She explained that this approach is strengthened through a support ecosystem that includes the School of Business, the Neeuko Collaborative Innovation Center<\/a>, the Entrepreneurship HUBS, and the La Cepita<\/a>, Tasty Lab, and Showcase<\/a> programs. Through these initiatives, students have access to specialized mentorship, seed funding, and strategic guidance to turn their ideas into concrete and sustainable projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe thank Enactus Puerto Rico for this recognition of our entrepreneurship faculty team. It validates the University\u2019s commitment to an education that empowers our students to transform ideas into projects with real-world impact,\u201d Ramos Ruiz said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
