When the alarm sounded, members of the university community across campus practiced the essential steps to reduce the risk of injury during an earthquake: drop, cover, and hold on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In preparation for the drill, the Security and Risk Management unit conducted virtual information sessions for university staff and students. These sessions covered protective measures to take during a seismic event, the appropriate response procedures for students in different areas of campus, support resources available to students, and the actions to take once the event has ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_1273-scaled.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"48628\" src=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_1273-scaled.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48628\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/4W8A1440-scaled.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"48634\" src=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/4W8A1440-scaled.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48634\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_8243-scaled.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"48626\" src=\"https:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_8243-scaled.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48626\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to statistics from the Great ShakeOut of Puerto Rico, a total of 451,672 participants across the island registered to take part in this year\u2019s drill from their educational institutions, workplaces, and homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sagrado\u2019s participation in the drill helped strengthen the university community\u2019s preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a future seismic emergency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The earthquake drill was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Sagrado community\u2019s preparedness for a seismic event.
