Cruz Figueroa<br \/>\n<\/strong>Journalism Student<\/p>\n<p>Sagrado students have stood out in their hometowns because of their civic participation and community support. During the past months, they have delivered supplies, organized cultural events, and have spent time with their neighbors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Rudy Nieves Santiago, Student Council President 2017-2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sagrado Student Council President Rudy Nieves Santiago had a gratifying experience after serving in Naguabo with Sagrado is With You (\u201cSagrado Contigo\u201d) volunteers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8446\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8446\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_9353-e1512150528290.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8446 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_9353-e1512150528290.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8446\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by: Jonathan Bujosa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen I arrived in Naguabo, I said, wow!, there are people helping my community, my people. I felt proud that my <em>alma mater<\/em> was among them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nieves, the University has been the pillar of learning in molding his inner leadership. \u201cSagrado has allowed me to see beyond, not to think as an individual, but about the group, and to be supportive and compassionate,\u201d Rudy added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Jos\u00e9 Carlos S\u00e1nchez-Cintr\u00f3n, Student Council President 2016-2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Jos\u00e9 Carlos S\u00e1nchez-Cintr\u00f3n has devoted himself to rebuilding his town with his large family by applying the knowledge and skills gained through his years of study and his experience as a student leader.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8423\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8423\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/6G6A0809.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8423 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/6G6A0809-e1512509135277.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8423\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by: Cristian Torres<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn Sagrado, I learned, not only to develop my skills as a leader but, as the saying goes, to follow your heart. In addition, to focus on finding solutions,\u201d emphasized the former president.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e1nchez Cintr\u00f3n took \u201cSagrado Contigo\u201d to his hometown of Barranquitas. They distributed happiness, hope, and food to one of the most seriously hit communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBarranquitas was destroyed, especially the Man\u00e1 community, where I grew up. You could breathe sadness and hopelessness. Even so, people came out to try to rebuild their communities,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Jos\u00e9 Alexis Montalvo-Rodr\u00edguez, Television Digital Production and Marketing Student<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSagrado Contigo\u201d joined Delfin Jos\u00e9 Alexis Montalvo-Rodr\u00edguez to deliver food to the \u201clungs\u201d of Puerto Rico, through his Wake up Maricao (\u201cMaricao Despierta\u201d) movement, to promote tourism, culture, and art to his town.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8426\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG-20171130-WA0022-e1512074429862.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8426 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/insagrado.sagrado.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG-20171130-WA0022-e1512074429862.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"439\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Submitted photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSagrado contributed to great goals in my life, especially in reaffirming the importance of community service as part of our mission as Delfines,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The opportunities that Sagrado has offered Montalvo-Rodr\u00edguez have taught him to never give up. \u201cAs a little boy, I always loved to serve and, in this situation, I have been able to use my skills to help others.
