This past Thursday, March 31, at Sagrado Corazón University, the School of Professional Studies – Sagrado Global celebrated its 50th anniversary of educating the community through short courses, professional certificates, seminars and training.

“Three years ago, what used to be a continuing education department was transformed into the School of Professional Studies – Sagrado Global. And why Sagrado Global? We wanted to have a scope that was not limited, to reach the entire territorial extension of Puerto Rico and eventually – with the incorporation of virtual or distance courses – create a learning space where our people could interact with people from different parts of the world.”

Gilberto Marxuach-Torros,
President of Sagrado

The executive director of Sagrado Global, Militza Maldonado Agusty, added: “Today, we offer our services to the community because 50 years ago, there were people who had the vision of the importance of continuing education. Some of us seek to develop ourselves to feel fulfilled on a personal level, and others as a significant professional step. We all always seek to continue learning.”

To celebrate the occasion, Sagrado Global held a cocktail party. Anuchka Ramos, vice president of Academic Affairs and provost of the university; Ana Agosto, events coordinator and professor at Sagrado Global; and the former director of Sagrado Global, Elvia Agosto, were some of the guests in attendance.

The activity also included a conference on lifelong learning, offered by Jim Fong, founding director of the Research and Strategy Center of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association.

Likewise, the new facilities of Sagrado Global were also inaugurated during the event.

Since 1998, Sagrado Global has been accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Visit https://global.sagrado.edu/ or write to sagradoec@sagrado.edu for more information.
