Universidad del Sagrado Corazón reaffirmed its commitment to academic innovation and applied research by hosting AI Innovation Ecosystems: Connecting Global Research & Industrial Transformation, a hybrid research symposium that brought together academics and professionals from around the world to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on industrial transformation.

The event aimed to connect academic research in artificial intelligence with its practical application in industry. Through this gathering, knowledge exchange between international researchers and industry experts was promoted, fostering discussion on AI-driven innovation ecosystems.

The session was moderated by Professor Doris Morales-Rodríguez, professor of Entrepreneurship in the Sagrado’s School of General Education, and featured a reaction panel composed of Keren Henríquez, founder of Next Level Innovation LLC and Reimagine Education LLC, and Kenneth Rivera Robles, partner at Galindez LLC and adjunct law professor at University of Puerto Rico.

Representatives from Alma Mater Europaea University (Vienna Campus), University of Illinois-Springfield, Montclair State University, and Universidad Ana G. Méndez presented five research projects on integrating artificial intelligence in areas such as literary translation, accounting, corporate transparency, and global AI development:

  • Provenance-by-Design Note Architecture: Integrating AI into Knowledge Management without Losing Traceability, by Claudio Rossi, Ph.D. Candidate
  • Intercultural Competence and Translation Quality: Assessing AI and Human Literary Translations, by Prof. Daniele Duscovich
  • Strategic Silence: How do Corporations Disclose AI, Robotics, and Autonomy Failures and Incidents, by Ahmad Juma’h, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, and Ilia Ilienko, MBA, CPA, CMA
  • Accounting in the Age of AI: Disclosure Practices among US Technology-Driven Companies, by Abdullah Albizri, Ph.D. and Ahmad Juma’h, Ph.D., CPA, CMA
  • Global Drivers of Artificial Intelligence Development: An Empirical Study Using the Global AI Index Across 62 Countries, by Prof. Ángel Ojeda

The symposium was presented by the School of General Education and the School of Business at Sagrado, with support from the doctoral program in Applied Artificial Intelligence at Alma Mater Europaea University, thereby strengthening the institution’s international collaboration networks.

We are the longest and continuous educational project in Puerto Rico, and we are approaching our 150th anniversary as an educational project on the island. At the center of that future is the understanding and integration of artificial intelligence into our curriculum, so it is always a pleasure to have scholars coming together to reflect and identify what applications are possible for the future,” said Dr. Anuchka Ramos Ruiz, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, emphasizing the institutional priority of integrating AI as a core element of future academic development.

In conclusion, the panelists agreed on the importance of building more trustworthy and human-centered artificial intelligence to make a meaningful difference.

With initiatives like this symposium, Sagrado continues to position itself as a convergence space for research, technology, and academic training, aligned with its mission to prepare professionals capable of responding to the challenges of a constantly transforming world.
