The Language Center is integrated into the general curriculum with initiatives that support students’ development from their earliest university years.

By: Professor. Axelle Kopka-Pibernus, Manager of the Language Center.
Since 2020, the Language Center has been part of the academic framework that sustains the communication competency within Sagrado’s general curriculum. Its services have become a strategic component of the educational model, aligned with the institutional mission of preparing students to express themselves, understand others, and engage in dialogue with clarity and precision across academic, professional, and cultural settings. The center is currently located in San José 201.
The integration of the Language Center responds to the evolving academic profile of the student body and to the institution’s commitment to strengthening communication in Spanish, English and Foreign languages. To support this linguistic diversity, Sagrado has developed structures that promote language mastery, effective expression, and critical thinking from the earliest stages of a student’s formation. The Language Center fulfills this role directly, both in the classroom and through specialized experiences that enrich learning.
In addition to its academic role, the Center serves as a resource for faculty, who can make use of linguistic advising, workshops, and collaborative experiences linked to their courses. This synergy strengthens teaching, accommodates different levels of language proficiency, and promotes active co-teaching models that enhance learning.
In August 2025, the Center entered a new phase with an expanded calendar of activities designed to address specific student needs and strengthen academic performance. The programming includes:
- Conversation and analysis workshops connected to general curriculum reading seminars
- English coaching sessions focused on grammar, pronunciation, and functional practice
- Workshops to strengthen oral communication and reading comprehension
- The Café Lingüístico series, featuring English, French, and Portuguese practice in an informal and culturally diverse setting
- The second edition of the Oratory Contest, which fosters stage presence, critical thinking, and argumentation
These initiatives not only expand the Center’s services but also position it as a key resource in Sagrado’s undergraduate education. Its model aligns with international standards in language instruction and reinforces an academic proposition that connects linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, and access to professional opportunities.
The Language Center features a writing center and collaborative work area available Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a. m. to 6:00 p. m. Its team of specialists in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese supports students and faculty in the development of advanced language skills, directly contributing to the institution’s academic goals.
