“Our athletes are provided with top trainers in different sports disciplines and have been given quality training,” she added.

Batista affirmed that the students have adapted to a more focused training and they know that they will make a difference. She expects that “everyone will significantly improve their performance.”

In regards to medals, she expects to win, “one gold, one silver and perhaps, one or two bronze medals.”

The male beach volleyball team, 2013 champions, made it to the final again, surpassing their performance in past years. This time, they classified in first place among the 12 competing teams.

Stephan Rivera, member of the two-man team, expressed that being able to represent Sagrado was very rewarding for him, since it was the first time that he would participate in the Justas and he would like to bring Sagrado a gold medal.

On the other hand, the dance team will make a presentation on Thursday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the Sports and Recreation Stadium. In the past two years, the team has placed fourth, but according to the choreographer, Nelson Quintana, they have hopes to make it among the top three positions. To achieve this goal, they have been getting ready for several months in physical conditioning, and jazz and hip hop techniques.

“This competition will be tough. We see great changes when compared to prior years. The teams appear to be stronger, we are not going to stay behind, we are going to give it our all,” stressed Quintana.
