With Pride and Gratitude: A Message to the Class of 2026

The University community celebrates the students graduating in the University’s 87th Commencement Ceremony.

The university journey is a transformative stage in every student’s life. Before arriving on campus, one chapter closes and a new one begins—one in which each of you takes ownership of your own growth and development. It may seem challenging, but embracing new horizons is the best way to put your knowledge to the test and discover new possibilities.

Each of you came to Sagrado with an idea of who you wanted to become. For some, that idea served as a constant guide as you charted your path throughout these years. For others, it evolved naturally as learning expanded your worldview, leading you to reimagine your plans as many times as necessary to meet the challenges of your time. If there is one thing that unites your journeys, as diverse as the members of this community are, it is the ethical foundation of compassion and social responsibility that distinguishes every graduate of Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.

During your time at the University, you developed new skills and built community; you conceived and launched social, entrepreneurial, and cultural initiatives; you conducted meaningful research aimed at transforming Puerto Rican society; you forged connections with the Santurce communities surrounding the campus; and you placed your talents and time at the service of those who need them most.

Now, as you complete your studies, you once again stand before new horizons. This time, however, you do so with a richer collection of knowledge, experiences, and abilities that will empower you to advance your projects, embrace new challenges, and pursue new goals in your professional lives and beyond.

Throughout its 146-year history as Puerto Rico’s oldest educational institution, the University community has witnessed the passion, humanity, and dedication with which Sagradeños engage the world. Thanks to these qualities, Sagrado has established itself as a model of human-centered excellence and a force for social transformation.

Wherever your path may lead, remember the commitment entrusted to us by the founders of the Sacred Heart: to help build a Puerto Rican society that is more authentically Christian—a community united in solidarity, justice, and peace. May the knowledge you have gained and the experiences you have lived at Sagrado continue to guide your steps and strengthen your sense of purpose.

Congratulations, Class of 2026!
