The dean of Sagrado’s School of Arts, Design, and Creative Industries, Dr. Javier Hernández-Acosta, will join three panels at the STP&A 2023 Conference (September 21-23) in Lexington, Kentucky. The International Conference of Social Theory, Politics, and Arts (STP&A) is the oldest and one of the most influential interdisciplinary gatherings of researchers and practitioners in arts management and cultural policy who explores critical trends, practices, and policy issues affecting the arts around the world.
Dr. Hernández-Acosta, who is also the founder of Inversión Cultural and the Center for Creative Economy, as well as a Puerto Rican musician, will be joining Dr. Woongjo Chang (Hongik University), Prof. Margaret Wyszomirski (Ohio State University), and Dr. Youngaah Koh (Miami University) in the panel discussion titled Arts Professionalization in the Age of AI and Emerging Technologies: Cultural Policy Challenges and Responses.
He will also be part of the panel titled The Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP): How it started, how’s it going?, alongside Dr. Jennifer Novak-Leonard (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Dr. Rachel Skaggs (Ohio State University), Dr. WoongJo Chang, and Dr. Karen Munnelly (ArtsVision).
Finally, Dr. Hernández-Acosta will participate in The Expanded Field of Arts Entrepreneurship. This panel reunites Prof. Adrienne Callander (University of Arkansas), Dr. Johanna Taylor (Arizona State University), Dr. Amy Whitaker (New York University), Dr. Neville Vakharia (Drexel University), and Prof. Diane Ragsdale (Minneapolis College of Art and Design).
Dr. Hernandez-Acosta’s participation in this conference will allow him to share with an international audience the learnings of the School of Arts, Design and Creative Industries at Sacred Heart University, founded in 2022 and which brings together the programs of Visual Arts, Theater, Dance, Music, Fashion Design and Management, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Business of Arts and Entertainment, Creative Writing, Event Production, Photography and Animation and 3D Visualization.
