Universidad del Sagrado Corazón

With profound joy and Christian hope, we welcome the news of the appointment of Bishop Eusebio Ramos Morales as Archbishop-elect of San Juan, by decision of Pope Leo XIV.

His pastoral ministry, marked by his closeness to the people, a missionary spirit, and a deep commitment to the communities he has served in the Dioceses of Fajardo-Humacao and Caguas, has demonstrated a shepherd who walks alongside his people, listens to their needs, and proclaims the Gospel with hope. These qualities inspire confidence as the Archdiocese of San Juan begins this new chapter.

As a Catholic university, founded and sustained by the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and part of an educational legacy spanning more than 146 years of service to Puerto Rico, we reaffirm our commitment to continue collaborating in the Church’s evangelizing mission through education, the holistic formation of our students, dialogue with culture, and the promotion of the common good. We share the conviction that education is a transformative force capable of contributing to the building of a society that is more authentically Christian—a community united in justice, solidarity, and peace—as expressed in our mission.

We also express our profound gratitude to Archbishop Roberto Octavio González Nieves, O.F.M., for his generous pastoral service throughout his years as Archbishop of San Juan. His closeness to our institution, his steadfast support for the mission of Catholic education, and his commitment to forming leaders in service to Puerto Rico have left a lasting mark on the life of our university community.

We invite our entire university community to join us in prayer for our Church and for those who have been called to serve through pastoral leadership.

At Sagrado.
