The celebration concluded a week of orientation and community-building ahead of the start of the academic year.

Hundreds of students celebrated the culmination of Welcome Week at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón with an investiture ceremony, where they committed to upholding the values outlined in the institution’s mission.
Throughout the week, incoming students—including undergraduate and graduate students, transfer students, and readmitted students—had the opportunity to meet their professors, connect with other members of the university community, and participate in welcome orientations within their respective schools. At the conclusion of the week, the closing ceremony featured the presence and participation of the university community, including the deans, who shared with the newest members of the student body what distinguishes a Sagrado Dolphin within each of the schools that make up the institution.
Dr. Anuchka Ramos Ruiz, provost and executive vice president for Academic and Student Affairs, welcomed the new generation of students with an invitation to approach their university experience with intention and gratitude. She emphasized the university community’s commitment to supporting them throughout their academic journey.

During the ceremony, students also met their academic advisors, who will guide them on matters such as academic planning, exploring concentrations, and other academic concerns throughout their time at Sagrado.
The welcome ceremony was followed by the lighting of the flame in front of the iconic portico, an activity symbolizing the light of knowledge and hope that will accompany students throughout their university careers.
The conclusion of Welcome Week also included opportunities for celebration and community-building, where students were able to connect with other members of the community and continue exploring the campus.
Meanwhile, Angélica María Torres González, a native of Añasco, expressed her excitement about beginning her bachelor’s degree in Experience Design: Tourism and Events at the School of Arts, Design and Creative Industries (EADIC). “I really liked the dynamic at Sagrado: the people, the professors, and the way they speak to us,” the student said about her experience during Welcome Week.
Similarly, Julia García González, who is from Spain, joined the Sagrado community as a student in the bachelor’s degree program in Experience Design: Tourism and Events. Like Torres González, she enjoyed the welcome ceremony and the lighting of the flame.
“I’m excited to meet new people and open myself up to new experiences. After all, it’s a new culture for me,” the student said, adding that she was excited to make new friends, join student organizations, and explore other parts of Puerto Rico.
